DPI Director Fellhofer on ZIB 2 discussing increasing radicalisation on the internet
The ORF programme ‘Zeit im Bild 2’ reported on a non-final judgement against an 18-year-old for membership of a terrorist group and criminal organisation. In an ORF discussion on the impact of Islamist online propaganda, Lisa Fellhofer, director of the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI), explained how extremist preachers use social media to radicalise young people in particular. Islamist content is particularly easy and quick to access, especially via social media. Young people searching for their identity are targeted and professionally addressed by the preachers.

Contributions from experts show that religious extremism poses a considerable challenge to liberal democracy on many levels.
