DPI in London, Copenhagen, Linz and at the DAVO Congress 2024 in Göttingen
In autumn 2024, the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) was again involved in a number of events and also held meetings at international level with authorities and academic institutions. The business trips took place in the interests of international networking. DPI Deputy Director Ferdinand Haberl travelled to London for exchange talks, where he visited Chatham House and the Austrian Embassy in the UK. DPI Director Lisa Fellhofer travelled to Copenhagen at the invitation of the Danish Ministry of Integration and met with renowned academic Magnus Ranstorp, among others.
DPI lecture in Göttingen and DPI seminar in Linz
From 26 to 28 September, the 30th International DA-VO Congress took place at the University of Göttingen (Germany) under the theme ‘Societies in Transition: Law, Culture and Politics in the Middle East’. The Documentation Centre was also represented on a panel this year, with the contribution ‘The faḍāʾil-literature as ideological resource for the formulati-on of an Islam-based nationalism in Yemen’. On 7 November, a seminar was also held at the Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz (PHDL) on the topic of ‘Phenomena of Political Islam. Actors and structures, movements and groups’ with DPI Deputy Director Haberl.

The Conference on Extremism and Radicalisation Austria (CERA) of the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) took place for the third time on 4 October 2024. The academic conference was attended by renowned personalities from academia and research, such as Lina Khatib from Chatham House. -

As part of the reporting on the 2024 National Council elections, the Director of the Documentation Centre was a guest in an edition of "zur SACHE Spezial" on ORF III. One of the focal points was religious extremism, which has also come under the spotlight in recent months due to Islamist assassination plans. -

The Director of the Documentation Centre was recently a guest on the talk programme "Der Pragmaticus" on the topic of "Hausordnung für Österreich: Regeln und Werte für die Integration". She also took part in a discussion with experts for a magazine article and a live podcast in Alpbach.
