There is currently a debate in Austria about a possible ban on social media for children and young people. In an interview with the daily newspaper Die Presse, Lisa Fellhofer, director of the Documentation Centre for Political Islam (DPI), spoke with domestic politics editor Daniel Bischof about this and other current issues. She explained how quickly children and young people can become radicalised by Islamist propaganda online. She also pointed out the need for accompanying measures, such as media literacy training. Current developments in Salafist subcultures and trends on the streets were also discussed. Among other things, DPI Director Fellhofer emphasised the importance of exchange and cooperation with the federal states.
