The Conference on Extremism and Radicalisation Austria (CERA) of the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) took place for the third time on 4 October 2024. The academic conference was attended by renowned personalities from academia and research, such as Lina Khatib from Chatham House. -

As part of the reporting on the 2024 National Council elections, the Director of the Documentation Centre was a guest in an edition of "zur SACHE Spezial" on ORF III. One of the focal points was religious extremism, which has also come under the spotlight in recent months due to Islamist assassination plans. -

The Director of the Documentation Centre was recently a guest on the talk programme "Der Pragmaticus" on the topic of "Hausordnung für Österreich: Regeln und Werte für die Integration". She also took part in a discussion with experts for a magazine article and a live podcast in Alpbach. -

The LGBTQ+ community within Europe is increasingly confronted with homophobic and religiously motivated political extremism. As part of a project supported by the documentation centre in terms of research funding, Arno Tausch has published a study on this topic with Springer Verlag. -

At a press conference on Wednesday, the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) summed up its work following its foundation in July 2020 and published its latest annual report with insights into current developments. After the presentation on Wednesday, numerous media from the TV, radio, print and online sectors in Austria reported on it. -

A key focus of the new DPI annual report is on the events of 7 October 2023 and their aftermath. Following the terrorist attack, problematic developments in European society have become even more visible. Other important topics include the problematic influence of foreign actors, such as those from Iran or Turkey, on parts of the Muslim community and current trends in Salafist milieus. -

In the journal HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory, Zoltan Pall from the Austrian Academy of Sciences has published an extensive article entitled "Can the umma replace the nation? Salafism, home-making and the territorial nation-state". The project was also funded by the Documentation Centre. -

From 15 to 16 May 2024, the "Geist & Gegenwart"-Pfingstdialog took place for the 12th time at Seggauberg Castle in Leibnitz. The focus was on the challenges and opportunities facing European regions in a globalised and multipolar world.Experts from various fields took part in keynote speeches, panel discussions and insieme groups over the two days. -

A roundtable on the topic of "Tactics for TikTok - the dangers of radicalisation for children and young people" was held at the Green Parliamentary Club this week. In addition to the Green members of the National Council, numerous experts from various fields were also present.
