Documentation Centre at the DAVO Congress 2023
The Austrian Fund for the Documentation of Religiously Motivated Political Extremism (Documentation Centre Political Islam) took part in the 29th International DAVO Congress, which was held at the University of Vienna from 21 to 23 September in the course of the Turkology Day 2023. The Fund organised a panel entitled "Tug of War for Turkish Identity", with Kemal Bozay and Sarah Demmrich (née Kaboğan) among the speakers. The following topics were discussed in this framework:
- „Hizb ut-Tahrir in Turkey“
- „The Furkan Movement challenging the Turkish Identity“
- „Religious Fundamentalism and Radicalization – All a Question of Reactivity? Empirical Findings among Muslims in Germany and Turkey“
- „The Ülkücü Movement in Contemporary Turkey“
The Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft Vorderer Orient (DAVO) was founded in 1993 as a non-profit association. Its aims include the exchange of information on interdisciplinary issues and worldwide networking.
