Interview in Austrian newspaper “Kurier” with Director Fellhofer
In the context of the publication of the Documentation Centre’s latest study, Director Lisa Fellhofer joined Martin Gebhart, head of the Kurier’s domestic policy department, as a guest for the television format KURIER Talk. Among the central topics of conversation were the latest publication on the manifestations of religiously motivated extremism on a local level as evidenced by the Islamic Association in Austria (IVÖ) and the question of the general influence of political Islam in Austria.

At a press conference on Wednesday, the Documentation Centre Political Islam summed up its work following its foundation in July 2020 and published its latest annual report with insights into current developments. After the presentation on Wednesday, numerous media from the TV, radio, print and online sectors in Austria reported on it. -

A key focus of the new DPI annual report is on the events of 7 October 2023 and their aftermath. Following the terrorist attack, problematic developments in European society have become even more visible. Other important topics include the problematic influence of foreign actors, such as those from Iran or Turkey, on parts of the Muslim community and current trends in Salafist milieus. -

In the journal HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory, Zoltan Pall from the Austrian Academy of Sciences has published an extensive article entitled "Can the umma replace the nation? Salafism, home-making and the territorial nation-state". The project was also funded by the Documentation Centre.
