This year, the Conference on Extremism and Radicalisation Austria (CERA) of the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) took place in Vienna for the third time. Over 80 participants took part in the conference entitled ‘Political Islam between Idea and Practice’, among them renowned personalities from academia and research. The Syrian war, which has been ongoing since 2011, intensified again at the end of November 2024 as a result of an attack by Islamist insurgents from the Idlib region. In light of the current situation, the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) has published a Focus report. -
11/21/2024New DPI study on communities from Somalia, Sudan and West Africa in Vienna
In the current study entitled ‘Between the rule of law, culture and religion’, the Documentation Centre focuses on Muslim communities from various parts of sub-Saharan Africa living in the greater Vienna area. The quantitative study was carried out by the two Africanists Erwin Ebermann and Martina Gajdos. -
