At a press conference on 17 July, the Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) summed up its work following its foundation in July 2020 and published its latest annual report with insights into current developments. The new publication focuses on the terrorist attack by Hamas on 7 October 2023 and its impact on Austria. Since then, the events have been instrumentalised by Islamist groups at various levels. Other important topics include the problematic influence of foreign actors, such as those from Iran or Turkey, on parts of the Muslim community as well as current trends in Salafist milieus.
Following the presentation of the documentation centre's new annual report on Wednesday, numerous media from the TV, radio, print and online sectors in Austria reported on it. The publication was presented by Lisa Fellhofer (DPI Director), Ferdinand Haberl (Deputy DPI Director) and Mouhanad Khorchide (Chairman, Scientific Advisory Board of the DPI). In addition to ORF, the private broadcasters ServusTV and PULS 4 were also present.
