The annual symposium of the "LOTTA Girlsbase - Plattform für Mädchenarbeit des Vereins Jugend & Kultur" took place this year in March with the Documentation Centre for Political Islam (DPI). The topic of the event in Wiener Neustadt was "Islamism and political Islam - focus: gender-specific aspects". Among others, Deputy Director Ferdinand Haberl was present on behalf of the Documentation Centre. In a workshop, the DPI provided valuable academic input on the phenomenon of political Islam, Islamist movements and gender roles. Fatma Akay-Türker also spoke as an expert at the event. This was followed by an opportunity to share experiences focussing on youth work. LOTTA is part of the youth and addiction counselling centre "Auftrieb" in Lower Austria and aims to create a variety of services for girls in youth facilities.
