Vienna Forum 2023 with DPI Deputy Director Haberl

The "Vienna Forum on Countering Segregation and Extremism in the Context of Integration" took place for the third time on 24 October 2023. The conference against extremism was organized by the Federal Chancellery at the Palais Niederösterreich in Vienna and opened by Federal Minister Susanne Raab. After the keynote speech by the Arab-Israeli author Ahmad Mansour on the current situation in Europe and the Middle East conflict, the panels began, which were moderated by ARD presenter Constantin Schreiber. The Documentation Centre Political Islam (DPI) also took part in the event and was represented on the panel by deputy DPI director and Islamic scholar Ferdinand Haberl. He spoke about networks, ideologies and actors in relation to religiously motivated extremism in Europe.

Other speakers included renowned personalities from politics and academia. Participants at the conference in Vienna included Kaare Dy-bvad Be (Denmark's Minister for Integration and Migration), Sofia Voultepsi (Greece's Vice-Minister for Asylum and Migration), Etienne Apaire (General Secretary of the Interministerial Committee for the Prevention of Delinquency and Radicalization), Sir John Jenkins (Executive Director of the International Institute of Strategic Studies) and Kenneth Schmidt-Hansen (Director Danish Center for Documentation & Counter Extremism).
