The Multilateral Dialogue Vienna of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) organised an expert discussion on the topic of ‘The Challenge of Integration’ from 28 to 29 November in Vienna. The German foundation makes an active and effective contribution to international cooperation and understanding through its projects and programmes. Among others, the Documentation Centre for Political Islam (DPI) and its director Lisa Fellhofer took part in the dialogue event.

Germany and Austria are destination countries for migration, which is why experts from both countries and various institutions and organisations exchanged views on the topic. The approaches in both countries are partly different and similar in other areas, which is why one focus of the discussions was on the respective experiences. The director of the documentation centre presented current findings in the field of disintegrative narratives.

The event was moderated by Claudia Crawford, Head of Multilateral Dialogue KAS. In addition to DPI Director Fellhofer, other participants included religious scholar Fatma Akay-Türker, Social Service of Muslim Women Chairwoman Kilicarslan Ayten, National Council Member Nico Marchetti and Mikolaj Ciechanowicz, Managing Director of the Deutschlandstiftung Integration, Caspar Schliephack, Education Officer at the Fachstelle Islam im Land Brandenburg and Cemile Giousouf, Vice President of the Federal Agency for Civic Education in Berlin. The expert discussion was a continuation of the first exchange in 2021 and is intended to minimise problems and make better use of potential.
